Engineering is one of the most popular fields of study for undergraduate and graduate international students interested in pursuing their education in the U.S. Today I would like to talk about the application process to engineering programs, the types of programs, and financial aid opportunities offered.

Promising, growing, rewarding, challenging, well-paid - all are terms that apply to engineering as a major and a profession. One needs only to look at a list of engineering majors that includes aeronautical, architectural, biomedical, civil, computer science, electrical, mechanical, nuclear, and ocean engineering, and the interdisciplinary nature of this science will become evident to you. You will see people of this profession in virtually all spheres of human life and activities. Degrees offered and ways to become an engineer
Degrees in engineering are available at undergraduate and graduate levels:
Associate of Science (A.S.) and Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) are two-year degree programs offered at community colleges and designed to give students job-ready skills to enter the workforce as a technician or transfer to four-year program to pursue study for Bachelors degree.
Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) is a four/five-year (depending upon the school) traditional engineering degree that prepares students for careers in professional engineering. Master's of Science (M.S.), and Master's of Engineering (M.Eng.) degrees are designed for students who would like to enhance their knowledge in general or specialize in a certain field of engineering.
The Doctor of Science (D.Sc.) or Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) are the highest degrees in the field, designed for those who are interested in teaching and doing research.

Admission requirements vary from school to school, so carefully research the related information for each college or university you want to apply. A typical checklist may include:
- All official high school and/or college transcripts;
- Standardized Test Scores (SAT I or ACT to enter undergraduate programs and GRE to enter graduate programs, TOEFL – for all international students);
